Wildcats By Sheryl Martin The stakeout had turned into a disaster no more than three hours after the park ranger had left in the pickup truck. Mulder sighed as he passed his knapsack to a very unamused Scully, tucking it inside the pup tent. "Look, I didn't check the tent before I signed it out because it's always been fine in the past..." "Great. And when you get back you can explain the large rip that lets you see a full view of the stars... and they'll make you pay for it; since you signed it out in supposedly good condition." She pushed the knapsack to the bottom of the tent, beside her much smaller pack. "But, I'm not calling the ranger back tonight for that - we'll look stupid." Kneeling in front of the tent, she brushed a stray lock of hair from her face. "Well, stupider than waiting out here for strange swirling masses of leaves in the early dawn." He knelt down, unlacing his hiking boots. "Hey, it's been documented by thirty people. And it's not just a sighting - they supposedly pick up small animals and dump them miles away." He shot her a grin. "Like toads..." "Just shut up and get inside." Dana sighed. "And I swear, if you snore, you're sleeping outside." *************** Fox looked at the side of the tent unhappily. The space allotted him wasn't enough for one small kitten, much less his long legs and attached body. His feet kicked against the bags at the bottom of the tent, and he heard Dana mumble something incoherent as her back rested against his. And the floor space wasn't even enough to lie down properly... She moved against him; pushing him towards the nylon wall. Oh, yes - next time check the equipment. He sent a silent prayer that he had packed a set of gym shorts instead of nothing at all... and of course Scully had decided to keep on her tshirt and substituting a pair of track pants... He frowned. What did she usually wear? His mind raced over the past; trying to figure that one out... Suddenly a wild scream shattered the silence, jolting them both awake. Scully rolled over onto her stomach; pushing Mulder into the wall as she scrabbled for her pistol set by the entrance to the tent. Raising himself up on his elbows, he moved to just above her; resting his hands on each side of her as well as his legs. The yell shot out again. "What the hell..." Scully froze as she heard his soft voice at her ear. "Mountain lion. Don't move." He inhaled slowly. "Close to us, I think." She bit her lip, flicking the safety off on the pistol as she lay there. Fox's calm breathing sat by her ear, mimicking her own as they lay and waited. The scream came again... much closer this time. "Mulder..." She said quietly, both hands on the revolver. He grunted, his arms beginning to tremble as they sat on each side of her head. "Don't take this personally, Scully... but I gotta lie down." Before she could ask what the hell he was talking about, she felt him settle down atop her back, his face close to hers. A short puff of breath blew away a strand of hair from her ear. "He's really close." "The lion, or you?" She shot back. He shushed in her ear. "Look, kill me afterwards. Just don't make any noise..." For once she agreed with him. No matter that she had the pistol ready; a mountain lion would certainly be a challenge for them to handle. Taking a deep breath, she tried to relax and wait the cat out. Fox lay quietly, trying to balance his weight from his elbows to his knees to try to not squash her. His nose stayed in her hair, filling his senses with the faint smell of her shampoo and perfume; enough to alert him to her presence but not overpowering his senses... Until now... And he was suddenly very aware of Dana Scully underneath him, alive and very much a woman... Stifling a groan, he buried his face in the back of her neck, not caring if she heard him or not. But the cat was still out there, and this was not the time to think about that... Dana held her breath, letting it out slowly. The body atop her moved back and forth, and she knew he was trying to adjust his position to not hurt her; not to fall on her and maybe alert the creature outside... Then he moved against her; his face against her neck... And she was very aware of him as his hips pressed into hers; the bare skin on his legs rubbing against the thin fabric of her track pants... And Fox Mulder was most definitely a man... Putting her face down on her arms, she tried not to think about it; to banish the thoughts rampaging through her mind... With little success. Biting his lip hard, Fox tried desperately to move away from her; succeeding only in rubbing up against her more and more. Already he could feel himself straining against his shorts as he pressed against her. Trying to think of anything but what he wanted; he came up with only one thought - to have her right here, right now. And the thought was primitive and animal and very urgent. And he chewed on his lip even harder. Slipping a hand around her waist, Fox pulled her against him quickly; burying his face in her hair again. Do something, Dana... His mind screamed. Hit me or do something... She felt him press against her; the insistent tension at her back compiled with his erratic breathing on her neck. A hand moved to her waist to settle on her drawstring; playing with it as he pulled her back into his groin with a soft gasp echoing in her hair. The worst thing was... She wanted him too. A long-forgotten ache began in the bottom of her body; the movement of the man above her driving her crazy with want. His right hand moved down to press the material between her legs; to cup her lightly. Dana choked back a whimper as he began to move his hand back and forth slowly; caressing her through the fabric. Her hips moved back instinctively; only to meet his strong resistance. A small voice yelled in the back of his mind; alerting him to who this was under him - but he knew and didn't care. Well, not much. Didn't want to stop... But he had to. Raising his head to her shoulder, he paused at her ear. "Tell me to stop, Dana... Tell me you want me to stop..." But she didn't say a word. His left hand went to her face, turning her towards him in the dark. Leaning forward, he took a deep breath and brushed his lips against hers; waiting for her to tell him to stop. Dana felt his body freeze - with anticipation; with fear; with longing... Only a trembling betraying his thoughts. Looking into his eyes, she leaned forward and kissed him hard; darting her tongue around his mouth and lips in a long, hot, sensual kiss that she had only barely remembered in dreams. His hand left her neck and ran down her front; under her to trace over her breasts lightly, gently rubbing the tender nipples over the shirt before snaking up to cup one lightly. His other hand remained at her waist; pressed against the ground with the drawstring entangled in his fingers. He swallowed, waiting. Lifting her hips from the floor; she felt his fingers fumble for a second; then the sensation as he slowly pulled them down. Hiding her face in her arms, she could only take a deep breath as she felt him push them down to the bottom of the tent with his feet. Fox shifted to his knees; quickly undoing his shorts and letting them fall away from him. Suddenly he felt a soft hand stroking his bare abdomen and gently touching his thighs... then she lightly took ahold of him. He groaned as the feather -light touches ran up and down his thighs as he placed his hands on her bare behind; running his fingers over and between her legs slowly. She let out a soft chuckle as she felt his response, then gasped as a hand slipped around her waist and in between her legs again. Slowly parting the soft downy hair, a gentle finger ran slowly down into her heated centre. Moving forward, Fox felt her silky response as he began to rub slowly back and forth; long leisurely strokes of his hand touching her inner core. A whimper escaped her as he felt his desire grow and magnify; to take her right now... Leaning forward, he kissed her again in the darkness, feeling her tongue eagerly run over his teeth and lips. Suddenly he felt a hand guiding him to her; leading him where he wanted to be. He paused, feeling his body shake with want. Leaning forward, he put his lips again to her ear. "Please... tell me to stop... I... I..." Pulling his mouth away with a choked gasp as he felt her beckon him on; he moved forward, sinking into her heat and liquid fire. A strangled cry broke loose as he began to move slowly; his lips tight on the back of her neck. One hand pressed against her firmly; the other curling around her breasts to hold her still. It was so incredible, the way he felt inside her... the way she felt... As he began to move above her Dana let out a soft cry as his fingers found the spot she wanted him to touch; the sensitive core of her being... And he kissed the back of her neck again and again; nipping lightly as he let out hot ragged breaths and his thrusting became more and more wild and animal-like. She put her arms out; lifting herself up on her knees as she braced herself for him again and again. A hand made its way up under her shirt again; caressing and holding one breast - teasing the nipple with two fingers while his other hand began to move in rhythm more and more against her as he increased his movements. She was hot and wet and willing and everything he had imagined in all of his fantasies about her - Fox felt a tremble through her body under him as he pushed and stroked against her. He put his mouth to her ear again; taking a lungful of air. "Dana... I want to hear you... let me hear you..." His hot pleas was answered by a series of whimpers as she began to buck against his hand. "More... I want to make you happy..." He groaned as he felt himself approach the edge. His hand cupped one breast tight as the other hand began to move quicker. "Now, Dana... say my name..." He panted into her hair as he moved faster and faster, now totally beyond control. "Please... say it..." She heard herself from a distance, crying out as she burst apart in a shattering explosion of light. "Fox... Fox... Fox..." She bucked one last time against him, gasping as she shuddered one last time at his touch. He groaned as the pulses started to rock his body; stopping him from moving as he clutched her to him. Sobbing into her hair, Fox slowly lowered her to the ground, resting on his elbows above her... As they had been so long ago... Taking a long, leisurely taste of the sweat on the side of her neck, he met her lips in a light kiss as she turned towards him. "Oh, god..." She took a deep breath, trying to keep from shivering in the cool air that was racing over her bare skin. "Mulder..." He put his head down toward the floor, waiting for the words to hurt; to tell him what he had done was unforgivable and their friendship ended for a few brief moments of ecstasy. "I know..." He mumbled. "I'm sorry..." "For what?" Her whispered reply came in the darkness, shocking him. With the slightest of movements she flipped over onto her back, wrapping her arms around him. "For what, Fox Mulder?" He settled down atop her, nuzzling into her neck. "Oh, for forcing myself on you." The soft chuckle make him smile. "Well... it did scare away the mountain lion." Dana sighed. "And... I wasn't exactly fighting you off." "I noticed." He said, kissing the side of her face. "So... wanna force yourself on me and call it even?" She laughed. "Maybe in a bit... Fox... Meow." Dana chuckled, listening to the muffled laugh in response. "Just checking..." "Hmm... you're the only cat I want to hear from now on... Now purr for me." Fox murmured, stifling a yawn. He felt her arms wrap around him tightly, her soft breath settling on his head as he closed his eyes. Listening to her heartbeat, he smiled in the night. Outside the small tent, the mountain lion sat, waving its tail back and forth as it watched the couple drift into sleep. Tossing his head back in confusion, it wandered off into the forest; wondering at the way of humans. ************************ "You've become a world-class hopeless romantic."
